What Daily Bread is

Daily Bread connects people who need food with the organizations that provide it, and supports volunteering, shelter partners, and community giving. It is free for the people who use it to find help.

We are a connector, not a provider. We do not grow, cook, package, store, inspect, or deliver food, and we do not operate shelters. Listings are posted by organizations and individuals, and we cannot guarantee that food is available, safe, fresh, or suitable for your allergies or dietary needs. Check with the provider, and use your own judgement.

Requesting help

Anyone may request help. We cannot promise that a request will be answered, or answered in time. Daily Bread is not an emergency service. If you are in danger call 911. If you need immediate food, shelter, or crisis support, dial 211 to reach local services.

Volunteering and background checks

Some volunteer roles require a background check. Passing one is not a guarantee about any person’s conduct, and we do not warrant the suitability of any volunteer, organization, or shelter partner. Organizations remain responsible for supervising their own people and for meeting their own legal obligations.

Donations

• Daily Bread is not currently a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are not tax-deductible at this time.
• Donations support the operation of the service and the work it enables.
• Recurring donations continue until you cancel them.
• Payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see your card number.

Using the service respectfully

Please do not:

• Post food listings you cannot honour, or that you know to be unsafe.
• Misrepresent who you are or what organization you speak for.
• Use information about people seeking help for any purpose other than helping them - it must never be used for marketing, proselytizing, or reporting anyone to authorities.
• Harass or endanger another person.
• Break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service.

We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Your content

What you post - listings, stories, notes of gratitude, comments - remains yours. You give us permission to display it within the service for the purpose you posted it. Do not post anything that identifies another person who is seeking help without their consent.

The legal part

The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Media4U LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the acts of organizations, volunteers, shelters, or other users. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
